This week, an Illinois State Board of Elections hearing judge
recommended that the state’s top taxpayer watchdog, Auditor General Frank
Mautino, should be fined for willfully violating an order that he provide more
information on his former legislative campaign committee's spending. Questions
were first raised in early 2016 about why Mautino's campaign fund had reported
spending more than $247,000 on fuel and car repairs. Since then, Mautino has
been the subject of separate federal and state investigations, during which
time he has refused to testify or provide an explanation.

Mautino’s conduct, please click HERE.
I took to the House Floor on Thursday to speak in support of
House
Joint Resolution 9 calling for Frank Mautino to be removed from office. I
am Chief Co-Sponsor of this legislation to hold the Auditor General accountable,
in light of the fact that refuses to hold himself accountable.
I will continue to call public and media attention to this
issue until Democrat and Republican legislators alike come together to take
action on behalf of Illinois taxpayers. Auditor General Mautino should do the
right thing and resign. If he does not, he must be removed from office by the
legislature.
