WHEATON– State Representative Jeanne Ives, R-Wheaton, was presented with the 2018 “Protector of the Family” award by the Illinois State Crime Commission at the organization’s 22nd Annual “Salute to Those Who Make a Difference” Awards Dinner held at Drury Lane in Oak Brook on Wednesday. Representative Ives was recognized for being a strong, relentless advocate for Illinois families and taxpayers as they face one of the highest overall tax burdens in the entire United States.

“I am deeply grateful to the Illinois State Crime Commission for this award,” Representative Ives said. “Families and taxpayers are being crushed by taxes in Illinois, driving jobs and opportunity out of our once flourishing state. Property taxes are a prime culprit, and the political ruling class in both parties has failed to deliver solutions. Fighting for real, meaningful property tax reform has been one of my most passionate causes during my six years in the Illinois General Assembly. That fight will continue.”

This year’s award dinner was dedicated in memory of the late Chicago Police Commander Paul Bauer, who was killed on February 13 while attempting to detain a suspect who had fled from police moments earlier.
